Why this Project is so Important

Shelter is a basic right of man, yet worldwide there is over 1.5 billion people living in inadequate housing. From that around 100 million people are without a home at all. In areas in need of emergency relief, where houses have either been destroyed or damaged, One Nation aims to provide basic housing for the needy. Starting from temporary measures such as tents and basic ‘shed’ houses, One Nation aims to help re-house people with added amenities such as running water and drainage.

Yemen

More than 80% of the population requires humanitarian assistance and many Yemenis do not have access to clean water, food and health care. Children and women are among the most vulnerable to the crisis.

Each home will be built with blocks as well as rocks to ensure the structures are solid and last a long time. They will be double walled as opposed to others that have been built which are single walled. This will provide more insulation, help to keep cold outside and keep homes warmer during the winter season. They will then be plastered inside and outside. Thereafter they will be painted to make them aesthetically pleasing so families will feel better in their homes.

All of which, providing shelter, dignity, and privacy. It costs just £1,500 to build but makes a difference that cannot be measured.

One Nation have been on the ground in Bangladesh since its inception. Our goal is to ensure each family can live comfortably without the need to worry about having shelter over their heads.

The current situation in Bangladesh is horrific, many individuals are living in homes built from mud and tin. Families are facing horrible weather conditions such as monsoon rain fall leaving children and elderly people suffering with illness.

One Nation are building homes which can save a family from living in these conditions. Our homes are built with tin and have steel and cement pillars. This ensures our homes hold strong in awful weather conditions. Each home will shelter one family, each family has around 5 to 7 people. The total cost to construct one house is only £1500. This includes all materials and labour.

Lebanon

Tent Renovation

Lebanon has been regarded as the safe zone for the people of Syria and Palestine. Over 3 million Syrian and Palestinian Refugees are now residing in Lebanon. The Lebanese Pound has lost 80 percent of its value since October 2019, eroding people’s ability to access basic goods, including food, shelter, and healthcare. The Covid-19 pandemic compounded poverty and economic hardship.

The financial crisis has thrown Lebanon’s healthcare sector into crisis. Hospitals are struggling to provide patients with urgent and necessary life-saving medical care due to the government’s failure to provide private and public hospitals with the funds it owes them.

With your donation One Nation are able to provide some ease to the 3 million refugees on the ground. Due to the harsh conditions in the winter and soaring temperatures in the summer, refugee tents are usually damaged, and water is able to seep through.

With your support to this cause, One Nation can provide brand new tent covers ensuring families of 5-8 are in suitable shelter all year round.
