The birth of a child is a joyous occasion for every family. To offer an Aqiqah or sacrifice for a newborn child is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Alhumdulillah for your newborn child, One Nation is now offering Aqiqah do be completed in Syria where the meat will be distributed to the neediest orphans and widows. Aqiqah, in Islamic terminology, is defined as a sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child’s birth.
Throughout 2015 – 2017 the One Nation team on the ground in Syria have performed many Aqiqahs. Aqiqah is to be performed by the parents or the guardians of the child. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions used to perform Aqiqah when they were bestowed with a newborn.
1 sheep is sacrificed for a girl and 2 for a boy. The following is a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) where he advised Aqiqah of a goat/sheep.
Narrated Umm Kurz: The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Two sheep which resemble each other are to be sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl (Sunan Abu Dawood Book 15, No. 2830)
