Donation Policy

Your Donations

All funds are collected in the UK and distributed where needed. One Nation supports local, national and international projects. From providing hot food and support for the homeless in the UK, to providing emergency aid, clean water, food, clothes and shelters in devastated countries around the world.

One Nation understands the importance of Amanah; the responsibility and accountability it brings. We pride ourselves on being completely transparent and aim to provide you with feedback from the moment you donate until we have carried out the work you have donated towards.

When donating via the website or via bank transfer, please indicate the charitable aim(s) you wish your donation to be applied to, we treat these donations as restricted funds. If any funds are not referenced, the trustees may use those donations for any project at their discretion.

If we collect insufficient funds to complete the charitable works for which you have donated, the trustees will use their discretion to move additional funds from general funds to complete the project.

If the charitable need for which we have collected for no longer exists or has been completed, then the trustees will use their discretion to ascertain the intention of the donors and any surplus funds would be allocated towards another appropriate similar project.

We also collect and correctly apply donations according to different Islamic categories, like Fidya, Kaffarah, Zakat, and Aqeeqah. As these are restricted by the Shariah criteria, the trustees will select the countries for these donations based on overall considerations.

In the interest of the beneficiary, the charity evaluates the needs of the people and with their consent (Wakalah), provides them with what is needed for e.g. food, shelter, emergency aid, and clothing.

Gift Aid

Where we are able to collect Gift Aid from UK tax payers, this is prioritised towards administration costs. Any Gift Aid collected which is surplus to our administration costs goes into our general fund for humanitarian relief.

100% Donation policy

One Nation operates on a 100% donation policy and all donations are used for the delivery and service of the project. We work under the guidance of the Charity Commission and scholars in order to ensure that funds are distributed according to both Islamic and UK charity laws.

Excluding Gift Aid and specified donations for administration. All the charity’s administrative costs are covered by:

Donations specified for administration and from recycled clothing. The charity has a separate account for its administration fund to ensure the 100% donations policy is maintained.

Tax reclaimed from your donation (where specified) from the UK government’s Gift Aid scheme. This allows taxpayers to increase the value of their donation by 25%. This additional money is allocated to the charity’s administration fund.

Zakat Policy

One Nation operates on a 100% Donation Policy on all donations including Zakat, Sadaqah, and Lillah.

The policies and procedures ensure that the Zakat collected is distributed according to Shariah Law. The charity works closely with our local and national Ulema to ensure zakat is implemented correctly.

One Nation distributes Zakat in the form of cash where appropriate. However, In war-torn countries and Rural areas around the world where the currency has little value or people have limited access to purchase aid and other materials.

In the interest of the beneficiary, the charity evaluates the need of the people and provide them with their consent (Wakalah) what is needed i.e. food, shelter, emergency aid, and clothing.
