More than four million people have been affected by floods triggered by torrential rains, submerging hundreds of homes.
At least 13 lives have been lost in the disaster, as floodwaters have swept through vast low-lying areas of Bangladesh, leading to large-scale evacuations. According to the ministry’s report on Friday, nearly 190,000 people have been moved to emergency relief shelters, with 11 of the country’s 64 districts affected. Feni, about 100km (60 miles) northwest of Chittagong, has been the hardest hit.
We have been actively working in Bangladesh for 10 years and our teams are currently in the affected areas assisting those in need.
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter.
