India Floods Emergency
Help Families Devastated by Severe Flooding
Relentless monsoon rains have triggered devastating floods across parts of India, destroying homes, cutting off communities and forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee to safety.
Across India, the scale of the current monsoon emergency is severe. In Assam alone, around 700,000 people have been displaced and nearly 900 villages have been inundated, with hundreds of thousands seeking refuge in relief camps.
At the same time, severe flooding has struck Gujarat, with Surat, Navsari and Valsad among the areas badly affected by intense rainfall and overflowing rivers. Thousands of people have been evacuated or rescued, while homes, businesses, roads and essential infrastructure have suffered significant damage.
The Situation in Gujarat
Communities across South Gujarat are facing the devastating aftermath of the floods.
Navsari and Valsad have been among the worst-hit districts. Floodwaters have inundated homes and businesses, damaged food stocks and livelihoods and left streets covered in mud and debris. In some areas of Valsad, floodwater reportedly reached heights of nearly seven feet..
More than 38,000 people have been moved to safer areas across Gujarat, while emergency teams continue rescue and relief operations. Recent reports confirm dozens of deaths in the state, with Navsari and Valsad suffering particularly heavy loss of life.
