A powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck late on 31 August in Afghanistan’s Kunar province near the Pakistan border. Several villages have completely been destroyed. Roads are blocked by landslides, and the death toll is rising by the hour.
At least 800 people have been killed and more than 1,500 injured so far, with authorities warning figures could climb as remote valleys are reached. Our Ummah in Kunar and neighbouring districts needs immediate, life-saving support.

What’s happening on the ground?
Time and location: the quake hit around 23:47 local time on 31 August, shallow depth, felt across eastern Afghanistan. Aftershocks continue to rattle already fragile homes.
Impact: widespread destruction of houses, roads cut off by landslides, entire families displaced and exposed in the open. Hospitals are overwhelmed and many villages are only reachable by foot or helicopter.
Our response
Alhumdulillah, One Nation teams are mobilised to deliver emergency aid right now. We are prioritising:
- Hot meals and ready-to-eat food for families who have lost everything
- Hygiene supplies to prevent disease outbreaks
- Emergency shelter: tents, tarps, blankets, and ground mats
Afghanistan is facing some of the most dire humanitarian challenges in recent history. After decades of conflict, combined with severe food shortages, economic instability, and widespread displacement, millions of families are struggling to meet their basic needs.
Currently, over 28 million people in Afghanistan are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, with 18 million facing food insecurity. The ongoing displacement crisis has left over 4 million people without stable homes, while countless others face extreme poverty and a lack of healthcare.
Over 600,000 Afghan refugees have returned from Pakistan in recent months — many arriving with no shelter, food, or clean water, and settling in makeshift camps near the border.
What is One Nation doing?
One Nation is committed to providing monthly aid to those most in need, delivering food, clean water, medical supplies, shelter, and education support. Importance of Your Donation
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter.
